In the Catholic Church, the Jubilee Year is a sacred period of grace, renewal, and spiritual enrichment. Traditionally celebrated every 25 years, it offers the faithful a time to deepen their relationship with God, seek forgiveness, and perform acts of charity. On Sunday, December 29, Bishop Alberto Rojas will lead the Opening Mass for the Jubilee Year in the Diocese of San Bernardino at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, San Bernardino. The ceremony will begin with a Procession, followed by the Collectio, and the Entrance into the Cathedral, setting the tone for a year dedicated to faith and communal reflection. This special year will culminate in a Closing Mass on Sunday, December 28, 2025, marking the end of this profound spiritual journey.
Throughout the Jubilee Year, pilgrims in the Diocese of San Bernardino are encouraged to visit various parishes, schools, and a cemetery within the diocese. These sites offer opportunities for reflection and prayer, enhancing the pilgrim's spiritual experience. One significant aspect of the Jubilee Year is the chance to obtain a Plenary Indulgence, which is the complete remission of temporal punishment due to sins. To receive this indulgence, the faithful must be in a state of grace, have a sincere detachment from sin, confess their sins, receive Holy Communion, and pray for the Pope's intentions. Participating in these pilgrimages and fulfilling these requirements can lead to spiritual renewal and deeper faith throughout the Jubilee Year.
